Grit-coated Decramastic metal tiles are protected by a surface coating of stone grit and binder. Over time, exposure to UV, rain, wind and lichen/moss growth can cause the binder to break down and the grit to loosen or become weathered. This can leave areas of exposed metal, increase the risk of corrosion and allow further deterioration of the tile surface. Applying a suitable protective coating helps seal and stabilise the weathered surface, protect exposed areas from moisture and the elements, and slow further deterioration. A quality recoating system can also refresh the appearance of the roof and help extend the serviceable life of the tiles.
